USS Constellation

By Justin Leighty

Here are some photos of my Polar Lights 1/1000 U.S.S. Constellation from the original Star Trek episode “The Doomsday Machine.”

The damage was done using files, pliers and a hobby knife. I put styrene bits inside the opened damage areas, and used some of the extras from the kit to build interiors for the damaged engines, and used sprue to make the exposed conduits on the pylon supporting one engine. I used putty and re-shaped the bridge teardrop to make it look like the old AMT kit, which is what was used as the filming miniature for the Constellation.

All in all, it was fun to make this little re-creation of a beat-up ship. Nothing fancy, just a change from the standard kit build.
