USS Exeter |

Here's some pictures of my recent Polar Lights build of the USS Exeter. I really like the fan-film "Starship Exeter". This model is sort of an homage to it. The overall accuracy of this great little kit is excellent; so construction was pretty much out of the box. One exception was the use of the clear red "bussard" parts from VA Miniatures. To get more perfect alignment of the nacelles, I constructed a wooden jig to hold them while curing epoxy adhesive. Testors Model Master Gloss Gull Gray was used for the main paint color instead of the Light Ghost Gray suggested in the instructions. Actually, the dark accent color is Light Ghost Gray. Some decals came from the nice JTGraphics sheet. After decals, the model was airbrushed with Future to seal the decals and then one more coat of Future with some Tamiya Flat Base. I really like this kit and plan a lighted one in the "future". Next project will be a D-7 to display with it!
