USS Ahwahnee

By Sven Ferron

This is my completed Cheyenne-Class ship, the U.S.S. Ahwahnee from Starcrafts. I did also an in-box-preview of this kit, and like I mentioned there, the model has great details for the few references you get about this ship. There were only some minor flaws which I had to correct.

The only problem with this kit is the lineup of the warp nacelles, that's some tricky work. But I am happy with the outcome of my model. Even if I mentioned that the kits decals look more fragile than those of the AMT/ERTL kits, I have to say that they're excellent.

For a better hold of the pylon parts, I drilled holes in the two "necks" and the pylons - two holes in each neck and two holes on the opposite in each pylon part. Then I put in small rods in the holes, to strengthen the hold of the pieces when gluing it together. Each pylon has to carry the weight of two nacelles and I wanted to protect my model from an eventual drooping of those parts.

I built an exclusive base for the model. I am very happy with this ship and I surely would do it again. This was my first attempt on a resin kit, and I am happy with the result.
