60's Batmobile |

Here's the Polar Lights 1960's Comic Book Die Cast Batmobile. Overall, a fairly easy model, but fun and looks great. Now Iım waiting for my 1950ıs Batmobile to arrive. For the most, this was a straight forward build. Tthe outer chassis was Die-Cast and finished in Black and Chrome, so I didn't have anything to do there. I did, however, remove the dashboard, which was plastic, screwed to the metal. With it removed, I could better detail it. I redid the instrument panels by scanning the reference picture in the instructions and adding a bit of red to the dials. I then printed them on glossy paperm cut and glued them to the panel (then I found a Decal making kit at Wal-Mart a week later!). I also added the Commissioner image to the TV screen the same way (made it Black and white with scan lines). I painted the dash Flat black so it would contrast from the glossy black of the main body. The interior of the car was straightforward: red phone and zxtinguisher, black and grey for the seats and inside door panel. There's some sort of crossbow-like wapon in the passenger door which I painted as well (not seen in photos). I spent time on the engine too, just to find that it fits rather tight to the car so most of the work is hidden. I detailed the underside by dry brushing the framework with steel, and painted the exhaust and other parts aluminum and steel. I also painted the shock absorbers gloss yellow.
