USS Enterprise-B

By Shawn O'Halloran

Here is the model I just completed of the AMT/Ertl 1/1000 scale Enterprise (NCC-1701-B) as seen in the movie Star Trek: Generations. Although this kit is very inaccurate (but less so than it's predecessor, the Excelsior ) there is very little available as far as accurizing parts available. That being said I did what I could. I purchased the DLM kit for accurizing for the Excelsior which includes accurate forward and aft photon torp launchers as well as the little circle deals that go on the top forward portion of each nacelle.

Of course the decals that came with this kit are terrible (and yellowed, I might add) so I also purchased the DLM accurizing decals for this kit and they worked beautifully as well as the JT Graphics decals for the Excelsior that worked well with a little bit of modification to make them fit this kit. And lastly, but certainly not least, I had the pleasure of being the first person to use the test run of Arthur Pendragon's Aztec and surface detail decals for the Enterprise-B which as you can see really made this model what it is. I had a very difficult time matching the blue of the decals and then I found it... Testors Model Master Turquoise, it's nearly perfect.

As far as the base color for the paint, I simply used Armory Gray Primer and a can of Rustoleum For Plastics White Gloss. I sealed the whole model using Testors Dull Cote (rattle can) and did a little bit of weathering around the planetary sensor dome on the underside of the hull and I used Future floor polish to gloss up the main deflector, aft torp launcher and the navy blue of the bussard collectors. This is by far the best model I've ever completed.
