Battlestar Pegasus |

This is a scratchbuilt model of the Battlestar Pegasus from the Sci-fi series "Battlestar Galactica" This is my third attempt at scratch-building and I would like to think that some effort shows given my restraints in time and materials. I love the design of the ship and it's role in the series as a brutal equalizer on any battlefield... The ship measures about 31" and is in approximate scale to my earlier scratchbuilt Galactica. As previously, all work was done purely by eyeballs calibrated with caffeine and in the few spare hours I have to "Just Glue it" Construction material were simple cardboard for the gross buildup with sheathing in styrene sheet of various thickness that I found at the bottom of my parts box. Total cost was about 80$ for the materials I needed to complete the model such as lots of glue and a couple cans of spraypaint. The cardboard sections were cut fitted and glues together and then the sheathing was installed over the bare body. Insanity ensued as thousands of styrene chips were cut and individually glued to the plates to lend depth to the body of the ship. My only regret is the shortcut of using decals on the engines to speed up the assembly and I will probably redo all of that when time is more available to me. I also wish there was more material out there to research. While I am quite sure in the future that there will be more Pegasus models posted that are of much better quality, I would like to think if anything, my love for the design and passion to reproduce it were evident in the photos. It was a lot of fun to build and I really enjoyed solving a lot of the problems that came up during it's construction and after all isn't fun in what we do is what sci-fi modeling is all about?
