USS Swiftsure |

This is my NX class refit, USS Swiftsure, NCC-53, named after one of the ships from Admiral Nelson's Trafalger fleet. After thinking over and over about the NX class ship, I thought to myself that the ship will be streamlined and made more modern to when you get to the TOS years. I wanted to make the look of the ship that had been around and had had a good run. General history: Launched in 2174, it spent most of its time as an exploration vessel. She got a refit every few years but got a major refit at the turn of century during fleet modernisation. She was decommisioned in 2339 after 65 years of service but was recommisioned after a few years as a ship for general use for the stations on Venus and is still in limited use. Originally, my model was designed to be made from Polar Lights' parts but the saucer section didn't look right. I put on a TOS Enterprise saucer instead because it was more in size with the engines for an NX class. And because of this it is in scale with the ERTL TOS refits and Reliants. The outrigging and pylons are made from sheet and bar plastics and were rounded off with another pair of polar lights TOS engines that you get with the kit anyway. The warp field emmitter is a ERTL refit bridge. I like the look of this so much, I am building a second one and doing 1/1000th scale.
