Calliope Class Cecil Milton |

The Cecil Milton is a Calliope-class container freighter used for short to medium range cargo shipping. This 430 Metre long vessel has a sophisticated counter-balancing system in its two counter- rotating container rings for loads requiring a variable G transit environment. A crew of nine keep the “Cec” (rhymes with fleece) operating for trips lasting up to 10 months working in both the forward ops and accommodation section, and in the rings themselves for the centrifugal gravity environment. The twin fusion reactor system offers reliable power for the main drives limited only by their fuel-carrying and heat-dissipating capacity. While it is an original design, this model of an interplanetary container hauler has a fairly common “look”, as it is based on semi-realistic space travel concepts. It was inspired by vessel designs from the Attack Vector: Tactical starship combat board game and the Cassiopeia freighter design created by Alain Gadbois and Marc Vezina. The model seen in these photos is 76 cm. long and made entirely of paper from a modular paper model system, kind of like building with paper Lego. I decided to avoid using anything but parts available from the modular paper model sets available from this site. A few parts were trimmed or combined in ways that were perhaps not intended, but there were no bits from anywhere else, nor was anything coloured or otherwise altered. Everything you see was downloaded from Mr. Withers’ site. Image: Aft port quarter Image: Stern detail Image: Engine bracket Image: Engine detail Image: Cargo modules |
